Southwest of Manchester, Sale sits in the southern River Mersey bank in Trafford, Greater Manchester. Its population has grown to over 100,000 according to 2016 census data. It has since been recognised as England's top 4 most desirable town to live in 2017. It used to be a rural township known for its cattle and crops. Urbanisation of Sale sparked around the time when Bridgewater Canal was built in the area in the1700s.
